Calamity Jane Rides Back Into Brisbane for a Raucous Encore Season

Deadwood's rowdiest saloon is back in business. Queensland Theatre's raucous revival of Calamity Jane returns to the Bille Brown Theatre for a strictly limited encore season, 23–25 September 2026, before the production hits the road for a seven-stop regional Queensland tour.

Naomi Price leads the cast as the title character — a swaggering, whip-cracking sharpshooter whose bluster and bravado mask a longing for something deeper. Set in the rough-and-tumble frontier town of Deadwood, the show pairs beloved musical numbers with an intimate, immersive staging: audiences are seated at onstage saloon tables, pulled directly into the action alongside Calamity's piano-fuelled posse.

Directed by Richard Carroll, the production is presented in association with One Eyed Man Productions, Neglected Musicals and Hayes Theatre Co, by arrangement with MTI Australasia. The cast is rounded out by Sean Sinclair, Jeremiah Wray, Andrew Buchanan, Dash Kruck, Juliette Coates, Aurélie Roque and David Butler, who also serves as musical director. Choreography is by Cameron Mitchell, with set and costume design from Lauren Peters and lighting by Trent Suidgeest.

Performances run Wednesday to Friday at 7:30pm, with a Wednesday matinee at 2pm, and a running time of two hours thirty minutes including interval. The season is recommended for audiences 13 and over, with mild adult themes, theatrical haze and strobe effects.

Tickets start from $85 for adults, $80 concession and $36 for those 30 and under. Following its Brisbane season, Calamity Jane hits the road for a seven-stop tour across regional Queensland.
